Boss Announcement: Boss VBX Pro-Lid Kit Changes and Upgrades
REGARDING: VBS15125B, VBS15130B, & VBS15135B VBX Pro-Lid Kit Changes: Track, Material Shields, Handles & Mounting Assemblies, Mounting Brackets & Top Screens
BOSS Technical Support has received calls from Dealers and Customers stating the Pro-Lid Hard Cover Kits have not met expectations. Specifically, install times are not acceptable.
In response to this feedback, several of the components in the Pro-Lid kits have been revised.VBS15125, VBS15130,& VBS15135 kits built before August of 2018 may suffer from poor fit and function on certain VBX spreaders. On any kit that has not yet been installed, BOSS will send out a field inventory rework kit under warranty. All claims must be filed through an authorized BOSS Distributor. This will be handled on a case by case basis. Date of Purchase will be required.Contact BOSS Tech Service for assistance in filing a warranty claim.
Fitting Pro-Lid “B” Kits to Old Revision VBX Spreaders and Top Screens
- NOTE: Due to the modifications required to improve the fit of Pro-Lid Kits, it is required that a new top screen be purchased when installing Pro-Lids on “B” revision or older VBX 8000 spreaders.
- NOTE: When installing Pro-Lids on “B” revision or older VBX 6500 and VBX 9000 models, some drilling of the Top Screen weldment will be required.
Track Weldment Improvements:
Revisions have been made to the track weldments to increase the amount of engagement when the doors are closed to reduce the likelihood of opening unexpectedly. The updates also reduce installation time.

Material Shield Improvements:
Some components have been removed to reduce installation time and improve performance. The braces that were initially included have been removed as well.

Revisions have been made to the handles and their mounting assemblies to decrease installation time and improve overall functionality. The handles have been shortened and the mounting assemblies relocated to the center of the doors.

Mounting Brackets and Top Screens:
Revisions have been made to mounting brackets and top screens to reduce installation time and improve the fit to the VBX 8000 spreader. The new mounting brackets bolt directly to the top screens through pre-drilled holes in the weldments. Previous VBX 6500 and 9000 models allow bolting in the same method, but will require drilling holes in the top screen.
